Remedial / Deep Tissue Massage
Remedial massage is often used to treat specific health conditions. It can help to relieve pain, improve range of motion, and reduce inflammation. It is a targeted treatment and is ideal for those with chronic pain and injuries that can offer specific treatment. It can include trigger point therapy, PNF stretching and or muscle energy work. This style of massage holistically looks at the entire body, with its focus being treating pain, for example neck or shoulder pain, or lower back pain.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage is ideal for those who are looking for a whole-body massage and the therapeutic benefits of firm pressure.
Sport Massage
Sports massage is designed to help athletes before, during and after training. It is useful for anyone who exercises to increase flexibility, prevent injuries and help with healing after a sports injury.
Cupping Therapy
Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. People get it for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being, and as a type of deep-tissue massage.
Cupping works by creating suction on the body's surface, which helps release toxins from deep within the connective tissue. The suction created can help improve blood circulation and reduce pain and inflammation.
It can leave marks on the skin where treated; The darker the mark, the more stagnant fluids (toxins, blood and lymph) were dredged up during treatment. The marks last anywhere from a few hours to several days. The more often you receive cupping for the same issue, the lighter the marks will be.
Pregnancy Massage
A prenatal massage can help reduce stress, relax your muscles and improve your blood flow, mood and sleep during pregnancy. Massage in pregnancy is gentler than the type of massage, the remedial, and will generally be light to medium pressure. The best position for a massage while you're pregnant is lying on your side, rather than face down (prone), with some time towards the end of the massage, lying on your back, (supine).
Side Lying Massage therapy, also known as lateral positioning massage, is a form of bodywork that focuses on relaxing and relieving muscular tension and pain in the back, neck, shoulders, arms, and legs.
Myofascial Release
Myofascial release involves applying gentle pressure into connective tissue and fascia. Fascia is a structure of connective tissues that surround muscles, blood vessels and nerves. During myofascial release therapy, light pressure is applied by hand to find myofascial areas that feel stiff instead of elastic and movable. These stiff areas, or trigger points, are thought to limit muscle and joint movements, which can play a part in widespread muscle pain.
It is a soft tissue treatment of skeletal muscle pain and immobility. This is generally incorporated within a remedial, deep tissue or sports massage, but can also be part of a relaxation massage, as it is such a slow and gentle therapy.
Lymphatic Drainage Massage
Lymphatic drainage massage involves gently manipulating specific areas of the body to help lymph move to an area with working lymph vessels. It is also known as manual lymphatic drainage, used to relieve painful swelling in your arms and legs caused by lymphedema. It can help relieve symptoms of lymphedema. The fluid in the lymphatic system helps remove waste and toxins from body tissues. Some health conditions can cause lymph fluid to build up. Lymphatic drainage massages can benefit people with lymphedema, fibromyalgia, or other conditions. Including people recovering from breast cancer surgery, who can find this style of massage beneficial.
Oncology Massage
Oncology massage is a form of massage modified to meet the specific needs of people who might be newly diagnosed or in survivorship. The primary goal is to foster comfort, relaxation and may provide relief from pain, nausea, sleeplessness or anxiety. Oncology massage uses light touch and slow, steady movements, working with the central nervous system to help the body relax. A very gentle relaxing massage can help to improve sleep quality, reduce anxiety and depression, and help with pain relief and the nausea often experienced by cancer patient.
Hot Stone Massage
Hot stone massage is a type of massage therapy, where basalt stones are heated (either in water or a towel warmer) and used to help you relax and ease tense muscles, facia and soft tissues throughout your body.
During a hot stone massage, smooth, flat, heated stones are used to massage the body, alongside relaxation or remedial style massage. In some massages these stones can be placed on the body or smaller ones placed between the toes.
